Mondays are my day of solace in a crazy busy time in my life. I've been able to sleep in a lot lately, so that's been a blessing in itself, because I'm not the best at sleeping. Today I slept in until about 9:45am, and then got up, had some yogurt and some water, and then showered, and headed off. I had a couple tasks to do today. First of all - the Bottle Depot.
I know a lot of places are not like this, but in Calgary, you do not have some nice man, driving by your house in a big truck, picking up all your treasures which you place in a blue box on your curb. Neither do we have the same "service" we had in our old condo, where your garbage was rummaged though, for any special treasures, mostly by homeless people. I felt like I was doing a good deed by depositing my bottles/cans in there for them, because then they found a treasure in the midst of the leftover spaghetti (and don't think I'm that cruel - I normally put them in a separate bag). No longer do we have any special service people, picking up our cans. Before Christmas I put a bag of cans in my trunk, hoping to make it to the bottle depot. Well - its March 3rd, and this is the first time since we moved in in June that I've gotten to the depot, for a couple reasons.
First of all, it really stinks in there. Like stale beer - amongst other things. Its also really dirty, and gross in there. Also, its always SO busy, so not only are you spelling nasty smells, you have to wait for a free "table". And finally - you get only pennies. take for example this. My entire trunk was filled. You couldn't have fit anything else in there, if you tried. And my cute little civic has a pretty good sized trunk. Anyways - $16.75 is all I got back. Oh well. Its better than a trunk full of cans I guess. I think that should be a saying.
From there, I headed over to my massage therapists, for a relaxing lovely massage. It was wondrous.
I had a few things to pick up, so I thought I would make a trip to the Superstore. I love this store - although it has its quirks too. I spent a while in there picking out some new cloths, and looking at all the home deco's. The one thing you need to look out for at superstore, is overcharging. I've had it happen a couple times where the posted price is not what comes up when they ring it through. If you're not looking carefully, or not paying attention, you'll end up paying more for what you're purchasing. for me today, this was a hurricane bowl. It was on sale for $7.44, and it rang through at $19.99. Good thing for me, I caught it.
After my fun at superstore, I was off to vote. Unfortunately, they moved the polling station from the place they had it for the last election. So after parking at the far side of the parking lot, and walking all the way to the school - there was a sign that said the voting was going to be done at a different school. So I had to drive around a little bit, cause I wasn't totally sure what school it was, but there aren't too many in Renfrew. I tried another one, only to find that I wasn't on the voting list, because I was at the wrong school. With an address in hand, I was off to find yet another school - which wasn't even in Renfrew. How weird is that? Finally found it - and it was kinda funny cause the guy looking me up on his list, didn't even know the alphabet, he had a very difficult time finding Bierman.
Is it weird they don't need Photo ID to vote?
Since then I've been home, keeping up to date with Oprah and Dr. Phil, and tidying my cute house. Troy should be home soon - assuming he has no problems finding the polling station.
Anyways - Have a great March 3rd!

Ohhhh a massage....lucky!
You've been watching Oprah!! FREEGANS!!! People (highly educated I might add!) who rummage thru garbage and come up with food items, things to furnish their homes, etc. I couldn't believe it! One couple was well off (doctor and engineer I think) and that's what they did! All to recycle and help the earth...and you thought you were helping the homeless!! Probably more like your doctor!!! love ya!! Bonnie
