Stupid Birds

I defy someone to challenge me on this. Magpie's are the WORST sounding, most annoying bird on the planet. Their sound is horrible. at 4am, or at 4pm. They are annoying, and loud, obnoxious. What purpose do they serve on this planet? So I found on a website, that they take ticks off large animals, and store them for later, but oftentimes the ticks still reproduce. So first of all, there are no large animals around here. The largest is the neighbor's dog, which is a pug. Pugs are not large. So no large animals around here, but reading this article, I guess there could be a large number of ticks. Great. Another reason to hate these nasty beasts. I hate magpie's.

In other news my Mom's coming to visit! HOW EXCITING!!! I can't wait! For August long weekend she's coming! Hopefully we'll go to Waterton this time. We weren't able to go last time, and I was disappointed. Nothing else is new with us. Saw Coldplay and Jerry Seinfeld a couple weeks back. Both were fantastic! Especially Coldplay. Definitely the best concert I've seen, and not only that, they played a set at a back stage, and played probably about 15 feet from where we sat. It was very exciting!

Also got a new Macbook Pro. Still the little 13 incher, but the newest model, I think it came out a couple weeks back and we bought it like 3 days later. Really cool features, especially the face recognition in iphoto. I really like it.

Well I better be off, and make supper for my cute husband!

One More Course

I've been taking a Dale Carnegie course, Leadership & Management Training. Tomorrow night is the 7th and final course! It has been a great course, very enlightening, but a lot of time and work. Each course is 3 1/2 hours long on a Monday night. There is also some homework that needs to be completed. The only problem with that, is they are not always clear with the directives on what they are expecting. It makes it difficult to be successful in the assignment. Today I am struggling to finish off my homework, so I can get my certificate tomorrow. Something tells me I'll be working on this all day.

Life has been very uneventful for the Biermans, work, and relaxing, is mostly all we've been doing. My brother Jon is getting married in a few weeks, so we'll be heading to that wedding. That'll be fun. Can't wait to hang out with my fam. I miss them.

Last night Troy and I wanted to take advantage of the BEAUTIFUL weather, and head to Peters Drive in. The line was ENORMOUS, and I think in the time we waited (about 25 minutes), 4 people were served. It was absolutely ridiculous. We ended up leaving, as we had a prior commitment. Turns out we got a pizza where we were going, so it's good we didn't fill up on Peters yummyness.

OK, I'm procrastinating. I better get back to my homework!

Farming and the Flu

So this past weekend we had an amazing opportunity to go to our friend Keith's family farm. It is a cow farm, however his dad is winding down, so has only got about 30 or so cows left, and is planning to sell them in the fall, and "retire". We had an amazing time there, doing all kinds of things that farmers do. We fed the cows, we built a shed, I drove a tractor and cultivated the garden. We tore up the farm on ATV's, and played with the twin baby cows born the day before. I also tagged those 2 cows, that was fun. We also had a hand in birthing a cow...well...it was mostly Keith's Dad who had a hand in that (if you know what I mean). But we watched, and when the cow was nearly out...and got stuck, both Troy and our other friend Gentry, along with Keith and his dad, pulled that little sticky guy out of there.

What a blast we had there. I really do want to be a farmer when I grow up. Maybe we'll be able to go back to the farm sometime!

We got home on Sunday night, and Monday morning, I had the full blown flu. Dizzy, nauseous, and the works. So unfortunately I've been at home, bored in bed for the past 2 days. I hate staying home, but I don't think I'd have been able to make it through work.

Well that's it. We're now watching American Idol, and relaxing until its time for some more sleep. I hope I feel better tomorrow.

2 Months in 2 Minutes

Wow, has it really been 2+ months since I posted....wow.

Since my last post, I started my new position at GMI and am loving it. It is definitely a challenge, but a good one. I have also started a course in the Dale Carnagie centre. Its a leadership/management course, in which I'm learning lots of good things...Now putting them into practice.

In the last 2 weeks, we've purchased concert tickets to: Coldplay, Kelly Clarkson, Jerry Seinfeld, U2, we've also purchased tickets to The Lion King musical coming to Calgary, as well as been informed we were receiving free tickets there as well, through Troy's work. And then of course, last week, we took in a night at the CPO, featuring Vivaldi's works. AMAZING. Apparently this year is going to be the year of concerts with the Biermans. Should be fun.

It was Eden's birthday a couple weeks ago, and I made her a cake. What do you think??

My youngest brother Andy came for a surprise visit (not a surprise to me, a surprise to his girlfriend) and got engaged while he was here. We had a blast, driving to Banff in a snowstorm, going up (and down) the gondola. I don't point out the "down" part of the gondola, because its some great mystery that we also had to come down, it is more-so the events in the "down" that were memorable. Think glass walls, upward passing gondola cars, and think...grade 8. That should just about do it. It was fun. Cheek imprints and all. :)

We had a great time with Andy and Katie. Took them to one of our favorite restaurants, Bolero. We had a blast. We miss them.

Well that's a pretty accurate update on my life.

Jon's wedding is nearly upon us, so that means a trip to Ontario! I can't wait to spend some time with my family. I miss them.

Well I gotta go! Take care all!

My Last Monday

Today is my last Monday off. It is a wonderful, and a sad day. I enjoy my Monday's off SO much. I do whatever I want, all day!!! Its been so great! I spend time with Chelsea, Jack & Rowan, I get massages, go shopping, watch Dr. Phil, sleep in...as I'm sure you can imagine, Mondays are wonderful days.

At the same time as Mondays are wonderful, I have gotten a promotion at work. Currently I manage & produce at the insurance brokerage office I work at. It is a small satelite branch of a larger downtown company. I have been promoted to Personal Lines Manager within the company. It is something I'm very much looking forward to. I will now work Monday - Friday, hence the end to my Monday's off. For the first time in my relationship with Troy, we will share the same days off each week. We'll get to spend so much more time together. So that, I am SO much looking forward to.

So 2009 will be filled with a lot of challenge I think, and I'm so excited for that. I think 2009 will also be filled with a lot of fun, and memories! We'll finally have a whole weekend together, every weekend, rather than once a month on long weekends.

YEAH!!!

Convocation, Amongst Other Things

Has it really been over 2 months since I've last written? Sorry. I have been meaning to write, however I don't really have many adventures going on in my life, so I suppose I'm defeated before I begin, by monotony. Tonight I find myself home, alone, and with a perfect opportunity to blog. No more excuses.

The past 2 months has been filled with lots. The father of a dear family to my heart passed away several weeks ago, and although at this time in my life I didn't find myself very close with him, there are definitely things he brought to the world that I valued, and I was sorry to say goodbye to him. He is celebrating with the Lord today though, so praise God for that.

I have been going through some health problems of my own. I started some medication for the condition my neuro-opthomologist figures I have, and at the same time, I also decided to try chiropractic care. There are several people in my life who swear by this kind of practice, and I maxed out my massage benefit, so figured I'd give it a go. I started these drugs, as well as the chiro, on the same day (not a great idea...but who am I to know that). Within 2 weeks I literally thought I was dying. I could not lift my arms above my shoulders, I was awakened in the night in pain, and got very little sleep. My joints in my knees, hips, elbows, shoulders, and my middle finger of my left hand were unbearable. I even found it difficult to stand up from a sitting position. I talked to my Neuro, and my Chiro-dude, and both suggested I stop the other. At first I figured it must be the drugs, so stopped that, but my severe headaches came back, that I'm trying to get rid of in the first place. So, I figured since I could not deal with a headache on top of my current situation, that I would stop the Chiro. Slowly my ailments started to go away. They are not completely gone, despite me not seeing him in over a month, my shoulders still hurt, I can't read lying down, my knee's still hurt. I need to go see a doctor, but mine retired. Anyways. I'm on the mend, and my headaches are gone, provided I remember to take my drugs. yeah.

When I started my job, I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life, but figured I might as well get paid as much as I could at the job I was at at the time, so began trying to improve my position within that company. Well it worked, and shortly thereafter I decided that I needed to get all the professional designations that my boss had. Tomorrow is my convocation, and although I actually passed my final exam in April and have been using the designation, tomorrow I will have the piece of paper that has my designation on it. Its quite a big "to-do" as my Grandma would call it, from what I understand. A Harpist, and the whole 9 yards. Hopefully I won't feel too much like a sore thumb.

Since I last wrote I have started to take cake decorating classes through the craft store Michael's. I can't believe some of the cakes I've been able to make. I'll post some photo's here. I'm actually really enjoying it. I want to be one of those people who knows how to make really great cakes.

Anyways. Friday is Troy's birthday, so we're off to the Keg for his birthday dinner, and then I think he wants to go see a movie, so that should be fun. Not quite the Las Vegas extravaganza from last year, but enjoyable none-the-less.

Thanks for reading my blog!

Clearing Things Up

First of all, things are brighter and clearer in my world lately! I got contacts. Although they are a little irritating to begin with, and my eyes are a bit sore, I had no idea all of the things I have been missing out on! The world is more colorful, more defined, its actually wonderful. I love it. Now – maybe my headaches will go away!

To Anonymous # 2 – the one who defended me regarding the Loser comment, thank you. My post about anonymous peeps, was not referring to you, or anyone else who defends another, encourages someone, or does an act of good will anonymously. It was referring to Anonymous #1. I have actually come across a few blogs where people were making negative comments about the writer in the name of anonymous, and I don’t agree with that. Let me make myself a little more clear. I think you should stand behind the negative words you say, or not say them at all. I don’t think it’s bad that you (anonymous 2) don’t identify yourself. So I do apologize for not making that clear in my previous blog, hopefully I have not soured your “defending” attitude, and you will continue to read my blog, and comment, even if you don't leave your name. :) Are we good now?

It is such a nice day out today, I got the opportunity to go have lunch with a great friend in Bowness Park. That was awesome!

In other news, tomorrow me, and my bestest friend Chelsea are going to see THE Sir Elton John. I can't hardly wait! We've been waiting at least 1/2 a year for this day, and its finally arrived. I bet he will be spectacular!

That's it, thats all.
