...and then there was the carpet fiasco. One week after returning to Calgary from our spring-time adventure in Europe, we solicited some help from our trusty friend Keith, and dug up all the Perennials in our garden. Then we invited lots of people we knew to come and take away these perennials, (I thought it was wrong to throw living plants away). With all the plants gone, we laid sod. It took HOURS, and unfortunately the help we solicited for that (not Keith), didn't come through, so Troy and I did it on our own. After laying sod for 5 hours, and watering for 1, we came inside to find the pipe in the wall must have burst, because the carpet in the basement was sopping wet, as was the wall (the wall was nearly pliable).
Long story short, we're getting new carpet throughout our house, because our current carpet is discontinued! YEAH CARPET! I'm so excited. When we took possession of our home, I discovered that the carpet was horrible. The people who lived here before us, strategically placed their belongings to hide this fact, and there are "pet spots" all over the carpet, not to mention the 3 iron markings on the upstairs carpet (who iron's on the floor?).
Anyways we picked our yummy, comfy shag carpeting last weekend, and so it shouldn't be more than a few weeks until we have sparkling NEW carpet in our house.
Also, I'm so proud of myself. We needed a new power head for our central vacuum system, since last year our houses humidifier busted, and leaked all over the power head. We have put off buying one, since we have another vacuum, and of course, knowing us, the power head we need to replace is the most expensive one on the market. Anyways, with the new carpet coming, and the fact that our old working vacuum cleaner isn't great, and burns the carpet, we figured it was time to purchase the new power head. I did some research online and found an online supplier who was willing to sell it for $299. I called around in Calgary and found a company here, who would price match! YEAH! So we have a sparkling new vacuum cleaner. I'm feeling SO resourceful.
On a completely different note, my brother Andrew graduated from Police College on Thursday. How proud am I of him??? (SO PROUD!!!). He'll be working for Waterloo Regional Police Service. How cool! I can't wait for a photo of him in his uniform!
And finally...(as if its taken this long). Chelsea (my bestest friend) had another baby on June 11th. Rowan Isaac Pritchard, and he's completely adorable. I love him. Here are some photo's taken the first day we met him (the day after he was born). It was also the first day Jack met Rowan as well, since we were watching Jack while Chelsea was in the hospital.

Oh the joys of home ownership. It's stories like this that make me worried to buy a condo! Glad it all worked out.
